Blue Dog: Australian Poetry

Blue Dog: Australian Poetry is published by the APC as its contribution to the publishing of Australian poetry. Membership of the APC entitles you to two issues per year. Grant Caldwell is Managing Editor.

Grant Caldwell’s work has been published in Australia and internationally since the early 70s. His latest book is Dreaming of Robert De Niro (Five Islands Press, 2003). He has been awarded two Australia Council Fellowships, and two Arts Victoria grants. His books have been nominated for The Age Book of the Year Award, and an International Rights Award. He teaches creative writing at the University of Melbourne.

Guidelines for Contributors

Contributions to the magazine are now being sought. All accepted poems, articles and reviews will be paid for. Intending contributors should note the following:

Closing dates for all contributions are 31 March and 31 August each year.
All poetry submissions are blind edited; articles are refereed.
There is a maximum submission of five poems per poet per issue.
We accept unpublished material only.
We do not accept submissions under consideration by any other publication or competition, nor do we accept those for which prizes have previously been awarded.
Reviews and articles should be approximately 1000 - 2000 words.
Submissions must be sent in clean hardcopy (with no author’s name on poems) and must be accompanied by a covering letter including postal address, telephone number, email address, date of submission, list of poems or first lines (where applicable) and a biographical note of less than three lines.
Upon acceptance, contributors will be required to send a copy of their work by email as an RTF attachment. NB: If you do not have access to email facilities, please send a copy of your submission on CDRom.
Return of submissions and notification of editorial decisions will only be possible where contributors provide stamped, self-addressed envelopes or international reply coupons.
All care is taken, but no responsibility can be accepted for lost submissions.
